Scenic Spots within 30 minutes walk
 
 
1. 地熱谷 Hell Valley
Hell Valley was one of the eight attractions and twelve scenic spots in Taiwan during the Japanese rule. The local people call it 「the source of sulfur water」or 「a ghost lake」. The hot spring that flows from the valley is sulphurous and highly erosive. It is shrouded with misty steam all year round. Its appearance changes dramatically as light and shade interact from time to time, and making it look like a fairyland. It is why also called the「Jade-like spring water covered with mist.」
 
 
2. 北投溫泉博物館 Beitou Hot Spring Museum
Beitou Hot Spring Museum was built in 1913, as Beitou hot spring bathhouse. It is a duplicate of hot spring bathhouses of Shizuokaken Idouyama in Japan. After Taiwan was returned to the Republic of China, the bathhouse was opened to the public and its name was changed to 「Zhongshan Hall」. The building was built with bricks, wood, steel rods and concrete. The whole building resembles a British countryside villa with an elegant appearance that fits into the Beitou Park. The building’s original look has been restored and has been transformed into a hot spring museum open to the public.
 
 
3. 北投凱達格蘭文物館 Ketagalan Culture Center
Ketagalan Culture Center is the first national educated center with aboriginal theme. It creates the aboriginal life theme and shows the history of Beitou aborigines.
 
 
4. 北投普濟寺 Puji Temple
Puji Temple was established in 1905 to idolize and pay tribute to the Buddha of mercy. It is the temple of the Japanese Cherng-Yang religious sect.
 
 
5. 北投台灣銀行舊宿舍 The Old Dormitory of Taiwan Bank
The Old Dormitory of Taiwan Bank was built in 1920. It was known for its mix cultural building, which combined Japanese-style wooden structure with Western bricks facade.
 
 
6. 善光寺 Shan Guang Shrine
Shan Guang Shrine was famous for its grand view of Beitou and three-story pagoda. The Buddha dagoba obtained from Japan enshrined in the top story of pagoda.
